You must first upgrade a trial site before you can point it to a new domain name that you've registered.
To learn more about the upgrade process, see Upgrading your trial site.
When you redelegate your domain name, you are essentially asking the company who registered your domain (your registrar, such as GoDaddy or register.com) to associate your domain name with new hosting and email services provided by us.
To redelegate a domain, you'll need to visit your registrar's website. Log in to your account and change your name servers to point to the Business Catalyst host settings. Your registrar — the company that's responsible for your domain records — remains unchanged, and you'll continue paying renewal fees for your domain to that provider. For example, if you purchase a domain name from Super Domains, you'll log onto their website in order to perform tasks related to domain name relegation.
Upon purchasing a domain, the registrar will provide you with a user name and password to access their online redelegation tools. Log in to their site and locate the area that enables you to change the DNS settings for your domain. This area usually contains two fields that allow you to enter the Domain Name Server (DNS) information, which controls the routing of your domain to the servers where they are hosted.
Assign the following DNS information:
ns1.worldsecuresystems.com (192.150.2.143) - primary DNS server
ns2.worldsecuresystems.com (192.150.8.143) - secondary DNS server
ns3.worldsecuresystems.com (202.176.14.140)
Many registrars only offer two fields on their site. If they ask for a third DNS designation, enter the last option shown above.
After submitting this information online, you may need to wait for the changes to propagate before the domain name update become effective. Once the domain name has been redelegated to new name servers, it can take up to a maximum of 7 days for this new domain information to update on all relevant DNS servers throughout the world. Usually, this process happens much faster; often, a visitor that enters your domain will be able to access your hosted site within 24-48 hours.
Note: You must redelegate your domain name using the DNS service provided above in order to use the system's email service.
If you do not want to redelegate your domain name to our service and prefer to use an external DNS service instead, read Using an external DNS service for domain names to learn more about that process. To review your domain name and check if it has been redelegated properly (and see where it is pointing), you can use an online service such as DNS Stuff. Watch their Video Tutorial to learn more about interpreting the lookup results.
Once the domain name has been re-delegated to new name servers, it can take up to a maximum of 7 days for this new domain information to update on all relevant DNS servers throughout the world (however usually sites can be seen within 24-48 hours).
If a domain name is currently being used by an active upgraded site, it cannot be used again in the system. (The system verifies if the domain is currently in use, and if so, using the same domain name results in an error that the domain name is already in use).
However, if you delete an existing live site, the system releases the domain name(s) assigned to the site and they are available to use again.
For example, if you previously created a site, but no longer want to host it, you can use the Partner Portal to access the Clients tab.
Click on the name of the site in the list, to access the site's details. On the right side, there is an option to delete the site.

If you click Delete Site, the live site will be taken down. Once this occurs, you can then use the online business builder to create a new trial. In the Partner Portal, you can upgrade the trial site, and then you can use the Admin Console (Admin > Manage Domain Names) to set the site's domain name to the same domain you used previously.
Remember: A domain name can only be used for one site at a time. However, you can set up domain name forwarding, if you'd like to have multiple sites resolve to a single site's landing page. For more information about setting up domain names, see: Setting up your site's domain name using DNS tools.
